The Collector’s Case “Comic Book Heroes” Unboxing & Review – February 2017

The Collectors Case Review

The Collector’s Case is really shaping up to be a great geeky subscription box! They’ve really seemed to have found their niche in the market and I love what they’ve been doing! The theme for February 2017 was “Comic Book Heroes” and featured the chance of getting a signed Kevin Smith photo at random. They’re also including a specialty bonus item in about 70% of the boxes as well so the chances are really good that you will get something extra. I’m a fan of Kevin Smith so I was excited about this box… so what do you say we open it up and take a look inside…

…alright and now let’s check out the photos…

Harley Quinn Pop Pin

Not a bad start to the box… I’m not really big on pins but if I’m going to get one I prefer that it’s a Pop Pin. You could have received either Harley Quinn or Batman Pop Pin in the box.

Guardians of the Galaxy Sketch Cover Variant Comic

I was a little bit puzzled by this one. I’ve never seen a sketch cover variant (I’m not a comic collector) so I didn’t fully understand what was going on here. But it was explained and apparently I need to bring it with me to the next comic con I attend and have it personalized. Of course that’s not free so I have to decide if it’s worth it or not. You could have either got the Guardians of the Galaxy or a Spider Gwen sketch cover variant comic.

Comic Book Men Minimates

I try to watch Comic Book Men but it’s on so late that I only catch them once in a while… I suppose I could DVR it but I don’t even watch the stuff that’s already piling up on there lol. However, I think these Minimates figures are awesome! I think I want to have like a little scene set up on one of my shelves where like a Mystery mini is trying to sell them something lol. IDK …I’ll find something clever to do with them.

Buddy Christ Plush

If you didn’t see the video… I laughed SO HARD when I pulled this item out of the box. I loved Dogma and the whole Buddy Christ aspect of it was hilarious. Normally I would avoid an item with a religious meaning but since this is more of a parody item I love it. This is probably my new favorite plushie… and that’s saying a lot since I don’t care that much for plushies.

Golden Age Batman Specialty Series Funko Pop

Everyone got the Specialty Series Funko Pop this month! I don’t know what it is about the stickers on Funko Pops but I just can’t get enough of them. Especially since being a chase item doesn’t exactly guarantee that it will hold any value (in fact my most valuable Pop is a common). Not that I’m ever going to sell them anyways but it makes me feel better knowing.

The Batshirt

This is an awesome design and yet it’s somewhat puzzling. It’s obviously meant to mimic the Batman symbol but it’s not exactly… the colors are also very curious but my best guess is that Kevin Smith always wears clothing with this color combination so it has something to do with him. Either way I LOVE the way this shirt looks and will be wearing it all the time!!

Bonus Funko Pop!

I GOT A BONUS ITEM!! So I didn’t get Kevin Smith’s autograph but I did get a bonus Funko Pop in my box. It couldn’t have been a better choice for me too because I (obviously) love Star Wars and didn’t own this Pop!

collectors case review

…and that was the Collector’s Case “Comic Book Heroes” theme for February 2017. Even without the bonus Funko Pop this was a great box! Definitely one of the best boxes that any company has sent out in recent months and I really hope they can keep the momentum going! The March theme is “Space” but the ordering is closed for that box… so they just announced the April 2017 theme which is “Fantasy & Adventure” which will feature a Sean Astin autograph for random boxes (unless you get the “sure thing” box of course).
