Loot Crate “Build” Unboxing & Review – February 2017

loot crate february spoilers

For February 2017, Loot Crate went with a “Build” theme that featured franchises that (obviously) have some type of assembly required. Among them were: Power Rangers, Batman, & a really surprising addition: LEGO Dimensions! I love working with my hands so I was really hoping for some type of model or LEGO kit inside although I was skeptical that they would include such items in the regular Loot Crate box… so do you want to see what they came up with? Well check it out!

…alright and let’s get a closer look with some photos…

Power Rangers Loot Pin

While I don’t watch the Power Rangers, I can really appreciate this nice pin. The Megazord is a lot like Voltron so I can certainly appreciate that aspect of it. Plus it’s a robot and I love everything that has to do with robots!

Tetris Magnets

Loot Crate has evolved beyond the years of putting magnets and other filler items in their box… or so I thought. Yeah I get it, how else are you going to include a Tetris item in the box but… meh. They are kina cool though, I mean I arranged them on the fridge like a mini game of Tetris but there are not enough of them IMO. Still though… magnets? Come on Loot Crate

LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack

This is awesome! I love LEGOs!! I do have the LEGO Dimensions game for the PS4 but I don’t play it… but even if I didn’t, they are still fun to assemble and play with. I believe there were 5 different packs that you could have received and it just so happens that I got the Benny’s Spaceship pack. Out of all of them I like this one best of all because I actually have the original space LEGO kits that Benny is based off of.

Batman Food Container

So you unscrew the top and store food inside of this thermos-like Batman head. It apparently keeps hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold which is nice… although it seems a little awkward to use. I haven’t tested how water tight it is but there are no rubber seals on the lid or anything so I would test it out before throwing in a lunch bag full of hot soup lol. I like the way it looks though, very LEGO Batman like, so I may just keep it on my desk and store things inside of it.

Power Rangers Megazord Blueprint Shirt

This is a very cool shirt design. Even though, as I said, I don’t watch the Power Rangers, I can still appreciate the awesomeness of this Megazord shirt. Loot Crate shirts are super comfy and they are pretty much the only tees I wear anymore so it will definitely be worn.

Loot Crate “Secret Order of the Keys”

We also got this strange card for the “Secret Order of the Keys”. It directs you to go to the website and log into your Loot Crate account. From there you need to solve 6 challenges involving the items from your Loot Crate box and by completing them all, win a prize in your next box.

All 6 puzzles involved print outs to solve. I very much dislike wasting paper and printer ink but decided to complete this so I can report on it for all of you. I don’t remember the exact number of pages I had to print but it was probably between 15-20 pages in total. Some puzzles were easy like the above Tetris puzzle. You arrange the falling pieces to cover letters revealing the answer to the puzzle which you then type in on the site.

One of the most frustrating puzzles by far was this Tetris paper crafting word jumble which was required for 2 questions. It’s supposed to be in color but I printed it in grayscale because after the puzzle they are just trash. I also didn’t take my time putting them together because… why bother right? It worked well enough and I was able to answer the questions.

…so I finished all of the puzzles and qualified for the “bonus loot” in my next crate. I would give you the answers but if I had to suffer through that ordeal so do you lol.

…and that was the Loot Crate “Build” theme for February 2017. Overall I thought it was decent. The highlight was obviously the LEGO Dimensions kit but the shirt and Batman head were nice too. It was a little light on product though since I don’t really consider magnets as a valid item.

The theme for March is going to be “Primal” and will feature: Overwatch, Jurassic World, Wolverine, & Predator. One of the items being a figure of some type with 3 variants so that could be cool.
