Gamer Block Mature Unboxing & Review – January 2017

gamer block mature review

In case you haven’t heard… Nerd Block’s Arcade Block has been rebranded as the Gamer Block. Along with the new name, the subscription box split into 2 categories: E for Everyone & M for Mature. Obviously, the Everyone Block is going to feature more family friendly games like Mario & Pokémon while the Mature Block will feature hardcore games like Halo & Call of Duty. I went with the Mature Block for January to see what’s new in the Nerd Block world. Sooo… why don’t you check out my unboxing and we’ll get to the photos after…
.

.

…alright let’s get to those pics…

The Lone Wanderer Pin

I’m not really sure where they were going with the name of this pin. “The Lone Wanderer” is obviously a Fallout reference… while the upside-down box is Metal Gear. Either way, it’s only a pin so I’m not going to fret over it too much.

The Revenge of Shinobi Print

This is a reprint of the box are from the original Sega game. It brings back old school memories and would be great if I had a gaming room… but I don’t so I’m not sure what I will do with it just yet.

Sniper Elite 4 Mini Key Chain Projector

I like these little flashlights as they have come in handy during power outages and such. This one projects a crosshair image onto the wall which, to me, is pointless. As a little kid I would have thought they were awesome though… as an adult, it says “I like to see in the dark but hey look I can still be cool doing it” lol.

“Event 0” Full Downloadable Steam Game

It’s about time a box for gamers actually included a game in the box! Geek Fuel has been doing this from the start and I’ve always said that Nerd Block needed to get on the bandwagon and start doing this as well. I guess they finally got around to taking my advice hahahaha… so anyways Event 0 looks like a very cool game! I’ve only watched the trailer for it but you are stranded on a space ship and your only companion is a computer AI. In order to get home, you must complete tasks and negotiate with the computer …like actually type things to the computer. To me it looks amazing although it could get frustrating since you actually have to type the words… guess there’s only one way to find out.

Tomb Raider Shirt

I didn’t get the reference at first. I got that it was a skull and I saw the girl figure inside but I didn’t make the connection to the game. It’s ok… I don’t really like white shirts all that much but I do like the Tomb Raider franchise so it’s an ok item in my book.

Vault Boy Bobblehead – Small Guns

This item made the box for me! You could have received any number of Vault Boys in the box but I happened to get “Small Guns”. I would love to get the whole collection of these but they are a bit pricey and I can’t justify spending the cash… if only more boxes would include these inside I’d be set!

…and that was the Gamer Block M box for January 2017. Overall I thought it was a decent first box and at par with what Nerd Block usually sends out. My favorites were obviously the Vault Box and the Event 0 game. I checked out the Everyone Block and I am certainly glad I went with the Mature for this month as there was nothing in there of interest to me. I will be getting February’s Gamer Block Mature as well which will feature Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, & Dead Rising 4. (The Everyone Block features Mario and Zelda)
