BAM! Box “Legends” Unboxing & Review – December 2016

bam box december review

The BAM! Box is one of my most favorite boxes to come every month! Despite the backlash they got from the November box I still feel like they are one of the best geeky subscription box companies out there. For December 2016 they went with a “Legends” theme that promised to have a little Star Wars in it which was very exciting for me. They also promised a signed Red Sonja item which intrigued me because I wasn’t too familiar with that franchise and I love learning about new geeky things. So was it cool? Take a look at my unboxing and see for yourself…

…ok now we will take a closer look…

BAM! Parody Pin

The BAM! Pins are always a fan favorite. Even though I’m not big on pins I can certainly appreciate a nice one when I get them. So this month’s were parodies which is why my Winter Soldier has the “Winter is Coming”. There were 3 other designs you could have received and 2 of those were limited editions.

Vader Down Issue 1 with Dynamic Forces Limited Release Variant Cover

This one is slightly confusing to me. The spoiler book calls this the “black and white variant” that is limited to 5000 copies. However, the back of the comic states that this is a limited 15,000 variant which would make it the color cover. I assume the latter which is just fine with me since I don’t collect comics. I have several of the Vader Down issue 1 with different covers so I’ll leave this one in it’s package and read one of the others.

Sarah Grey Signed “Stargirl” Photo

I love getting signed things in the BAM! Box every month. I don’t watch Legends of Tomorrow though so I am completely unfamiliar with Sarah Grey and her character “Stargirl”. I do know that she will be in the upcoming Power Rangers movie though which I’m definitely going to see so maybe I’ll appreciate her a little more then.

BAM! Box Exclusive Amy Chu Signed Red Sonja Comic

So naturally the signed Red Sonja item was going to be a comic I had no doubt about that. It’s a cool looking cover and I like that they made it exclusively for this signing. There were a few signed in silver or gold as well as some signed incentive covers according to the spoiler book.

Galaxy Samurai Art Print

This is a very cool print!! There were 2 color designs and 2 limited edition black and white variants that could have wound up in the box. I got one of the black and whites that were limited to only 500. All prints in the box were signed and numbered by the artist, Brian Reedy.

Star Your Own Legend Set

These “letter openers” came in a nice drawstring pouch and have a nice look to them. According to the spoiler book it was also possible to get 2 swords instead but these throwing knives are WAY cooler!! I don’t know how legit they are since they are labeled “letter openers” for safety and legal reasons… but they look like I could do some damage if I ignored the warnings and faked a little combat lol. I absolutely love it when we get these types of items in the BAM! Box… it doesn’t get any more unique than this!

…and that was the BAM! Box “Legends” theme for December 2016. While it was still very heavy on the paper items again this month, they had a much better selection… plus the throwing knives made this box a winner in my book. Next month’s is going to be killer though!! If you haven’t heard by now, the January 2017 box is their “Anniversary” themed box marking 1 year of the BAM! Box. They’ve promised to pull out all the stops and make this the most incredible month yet!
