I totally meant to skip the December 2016 Loot Crate DX when I found out what franchises were in the “Revolution” box. After all, Assassin’s Creed, Mr. Robot, and Gears of War were not my cup of tea. Unfortunately I missed the deadline and the box was coming anyways so …make the best of it right? So check out my unboxing and I’ll give you a closer look…
…alright and here are the photos…
Loot Crate DX Mr Robot Pin
I had never seen or heard of Mr Robot before this crate was announced. Well… maybe I have and just wasn’t paying attention but either way I went into this clueless. I’ve since watched some clips of the show and find it could be interesting… I’m definitely going to check it out. The pin is ok looking I guess… maybe after I become more familiar with the show I’ll appreciate it more.
Assassin’s Creed Shot Glasses
I knew what was in the box before I even open it. The double shot glass is some what of a geeky subscription box cliché …much like mugs and lanyards there are just WAY too many. These are nice glasses though… simple red and black with the Assassin’s Creed logo on them. I would expect an item like this in the regular Loot Crate box but the DX is supposed to contain “premium” items and this is anything but premium in my book.
Luke Cage Belt Buckle
Ok to me this is a HUGE FAIL! I don’t watch Luke Cage but even if I did I absolutely would NOT want this belt buckle. For starters, the belt isn’t even included …or maybe you’re just supposed to display it idk. I own several belts and none of them have an interchangeable buckle option. That’s not even really a thing in these parts to my knowledge… when I think of big belt buckles all that comes to mind is Texas lol.
Assassin’s Creed Scarf
This is a nice high quality scarf. I’m not a big fan of Assassin’s Creed but I have played the games a little… I also want to go see the movie. I don’t mind the design, it works well and will look good on me so I’ll wear it.
Mr Robot Hat
Even though I don’t watch Mr. Robot this is actually a nice hat. Usually they include those flat brimmed type in some crazy colors that I’d feel like an idiot wearing. Sure the kids these days like em but I’m old school and I like hats like this with a curve and that worn look. Even if I never watch the show I will be wearing this hat.
Gears of War 4 JD Fenix Artist Proof
I have mixed feelings about this one. For starters I don’t play Gears of War so I have no idea who JD Fenix is… but I like that it’s a big action figure. I like that it’s a limited edition loot crate exclusive… but Loot Crate probably still had 17,000 made. I like the unique-ness of an “artist proof” but the reality is that it’s just an unpainted figure which is less cool that the regular one. So for now this figure is in Nerf Herder limbo land where I like it too much to just give away, but I don’t like it enough to earn a place on my shelves lol.
…and that was the Loot Crate DX “Revolution” theme for December 2016. Overall I still wish I would have skipped this month but as least the items where better than I had expected. Next month’s should be much better though… the theme for January 2017 is “Origins” and features Transformers among other things!! (Superman & Batman too).
