Firefly Cargo Crate “Serenity” Unboxing & Review – November 2016

firefly cargo crate review

It’s time once again for my favorite bi-monthly Firefly themed subscription box review! Well if you haven’t guessed it, the Firefly Cargo Crate is a subscription box from Loot Crate that is dedicated to the TV show Firefly. I’ve been a subscriber of this box since day one and have just recently been accepted into the influencer program so this box has been sent to me by Loot Crate in exchange for my review! Each box focuses on one character from the series and the theme for November 2016 was “Serenity”. (Yes the ship is considered a character in my book). I am a HUGE fan of space ships in general so I was VERY excited to see what was in this box! How about you? Dying to see it?? Ok well check out my unboxing…

…so what did you think?? Let’s take a closer look at everything…

Firefly Cargo Crate Serenity Pin

I’ve said it a million times that I’m not a very big fan of pins… but once in a while I get a pin so awesome I cant help but like it. This one is pretty simple with the Serenity design but any fan of the show has a deep love for the symbol. Fun fact… I’m sure you already know or could have guessed but the symbol literally translates to “Serenity”.

Exported from New Burbank Sticker

They include a sticker like this in every box. They’re all really well designed and look great although I haven’t found a use for them just yet.

Firefly Replica Cargo Labels

These are just fictitious “cargo label” stickers that look like the belong in the show (and probably have). I love the way they look but I haven’t found a use for them yet either… I was thinking about putting them on my luggage but then… strange writing and symbols might grab the attention of airport security lol.

Firefly Serenity Blueprints Mini Book

Normally I don’t think much of the paper items in subscription boxes but this one is pretty awesome! Inside you will find schematics and cut aways of the Firefly ship. I absolutely love things like that so I can study them and visualize the ships interior in my mind. It just makes it that much more real to me… like I always want to know “what’s down that hallway” or “what’s through that door”. To me it just feels good knowing the answer.

Firefly Luggage Tag

The thing about luggage tags is that every single geek box out there has sent one out. They’re very cool looking and I do travel but one only needs so many tags lol. Ok so not everyone gets as many geek boxes as I do… plus this being a Firefly crate, the luggage tag does make sense. Also, I like this tag better than any of the other tags I have so I guess this is a win after all.

Firefly Serenity Dedication Plaque

Loot Crate sent out a similar item in the form of a sticker a few month’s ago for Star Trek. The sticker was a huge fail in my book… but THIS on the other hand… is pretty damn cool. For starters it metal… like heavy solid metal. It also comes with it’s own stand that screws into the back for display. I’ve cleared a spot for it on my desk so that definitely says something.

Let’s Moon ‘Em T-Shirt

This is a really great shirt design. It was snowing like crazy when I made my unboxing video so I took one look at this and thought it was snowing lol… yeah so those are stars hahaha. “Let’s Moon ‘Em” is a quote from Jayne Cobb in one of the episodes but I cant seem to place the ship or station in the background off the top of my head. Either way this shirt is very soft and comfortable like all Loot Crate T-shirts so I will definitely be wearing this one!

Serenity Little Damn Heroes Mini Master

Ok so the figures we get in the Firefly Cargo Crate are cool and all but NONE of them compare to the Serenity ship figure! I have such a deep love for iconic TV and movie space ships that it’s a border line obsession.

Just look at the detail that went into the making of this ship! The paint job is on point with no flaws and it comes on a nice stand with magnets to hold it in place.

I promised a photo shoot in my video and I aim to deliver. I’ve recently hung most of my ships from the ceiling in the nerd cave to make more shelf space for other items… but I’m torn on if I should do that with this one. I really just need to touch Serenity and play fly it around the room… at least for a little while until the novelty wears off.

…and that was the Firefly Cargo Crate “Serenity” theme for November 2016. This box was a grand slam for me!! I loved every item in the box and even better… will use it all. January’s Firefly Cargo Crate theme is “YoSaffBridge” which is entirely dedicated to Saffron. It was also hinted at that the Q-bit figures would return although they didn’t specifically say it would be this next crate.
