The Collectors Case “Super Heroes” Unboxing & Review – September 2016

collectors case review

The Collector’s Case is one of the newest subscription boxes on the market. They’ve got a few months under their belt now and have proven to be a consistently decent box. In addition to their monthly assortment of geeky goodies, they offer a chance to get a celebrity autograph or bonus Funko Pop in every box. The regular subscription runs $25/month plus shipping but if you absolutely need to have the autograph, you can get the “sure thing” box for $55. The theme for September 2016 was “Super Heroes” and there were three different celebrities featured this month for the autograph. So… I know you’re dying to see what was in the box so check out my unboxing video and we’ll get to the photos after…

…so what did you think?? Well lets take a closer look at everything below…

Big Bang Theory Trading Cards

Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite shows out there! I wish more boxes would incorporate some BBT merch into their boxes. I don’t, however, care that much about trading cards so it’s kinda a wash for me.

Marvel Dossier Dog Tag / Card Pack

Dog tags are another item I really don’t care for. These are nice, high-quality tags and have 3 collector cards included as well so they are good items… just not for me.

Batman Day Comic

So this is apparently a re-issue of a past Batman comic that was given out for Batman Day. I’m not a comic collector but I do try to read all of the comics I get in these boxes so it will get some use. It was apparently free so I suppose that doesn’t add to the total value of the box unless you really wanted one and couldn’t get one near you.

Cardfight Vanguard G / Luck & Logic Fanbook

I love table top games, however, I don’t play either of these. They both come with a special edition card which would be great for anyone who plays. That’s not saying I wont eventually give them a try… maybe after reading the fanbooks one will grab my attention and I’ll give it a try.

Archer “Once you go blackmail…” Love Letter Game

Speaking of table top games, they included one in the box! You could have either got this Archer version or a Batman version of the game in your box. I would have preferred the Batman because I know next to nothing about Archer… BUT I never shy away from trying a new game so we shall see how it plays out for me.

Superman Funko Pop

I love getting Funko Pops and it’s even better when it’s one that I don’t have! This is the normal Superman version Funko Pop in a standard pose so there’s not much else you can say about that.

Comic-Style “BAM” T-shirt

I thought this was a very fitting shirt for the Super Heroes theme. The classic Batman “BAM” (yes I know there is another similar box that uses this expression) but I also like how it is very similar to the Big Bang Theory “Bazinga” shirt in both style and color.

Vinyl Idolz Daryl Dixon

This is absolutely and amazing item! I’ve never seen a Vinyl Idolz come in any subscription box ever. I’ve always wanted one since I first saw them and to get Daryl Dixon is just an added bonus! Normally I’m an “in box” collector but I’m taking this one out so that it can be seen better. This right here made the whole box for me!

BONUS Brandon Routh Signed Photo!

Yesssss! I got a bonus!! I tell you what, I’ve been doing well on the bonus items… 3 out of the past 4 Collector’s Case boxes had a bonus signature inside! While I would have much rather got a Big Bang Theory signature, I still love this one. Aside from him playing Superman, I think my other favorite character of his was the Todd the Vegan from Scott Pilgrim. I haven’t watched him as the Atom lately though so I’ll have to check him out in one of the series that he’s appeared.

collectors case review

…and that was the Collector’s Case “Super Heroes” theme for September 2016. Personally, while I didn’t care too much for some of the smaller items… they weren’t really all that bad. But the big items really sold this box and even without the bonus signed photo, this was still well worth the price! (The Vinyl Idolz by itself is about $20). The October box has already sold out but if you’re interested in getting November’s box, the theme is “The Future” and sports some “Back to the Future” looking graphics if that’s any indication on what to expect inside.
