Qbox “Surveillance Deep Cover” Unboxing & Review – August 2016

qbox spy review

Have you ever wanted to be a spy? Do you love James Bond movies? Well maybe Qbox is the subscription box that you’ve been looking for! Qbox is a monthly “spy” subscription box filled with gadgets and accessories to help you get into the “undercover” lifestyle. The August 2016 box is themed: “Surveillance Deep Cover” and it is my third box from this company. I really liked my last 2 boxes so hopefully there will be more of the same this go round… so let’s crack open the box and see what we got!

…ok now let’s get a closer look at everything…

Qbox Filler: Discount Cards, Sticker, & Dog Tag

So first let’s start by saying that if you refer 4 friends to Qbox you will get your next month’s box free! They included 4 “playing cards” to hand out with a 10% off coupon code on it. (SPIESLIKEUS). The Qbox skull sticker is pretty cool looking and the dog tags fit the overall theme of the box so they work well.

Poker Chip Stack With Hidden Compartment

When closed the stack of poker chips looks pretty convincing and would easily be overlooked if someone were to go through your stuff looking for that secret microchip or memory card lol. The secret compartment isn’t very big though so there are very few things that could be hidden away in here.

“Like Spies” Mug

I have a huge amount of geeky mugs from all of the different subscription boxes out there so I am never excited about getting another. However, not many people get as many boxes as I do so for the “average person” this is a pretty cool mug!

“Like Spies” Shirt

Yes we got a matching shirt for our coffee mug… or maybe we got a matching coffee mug for our shirt lol. Either way, I like this design and somehow I feel cooler when I’m wearing a shirt that insinuates that I may be a spy lol. I’m not sure of the dynamics of the dynamite in the classic “rock, paper, scissors” game but I’m guessing dynamite blows up rock but scissors cuts the wick… maybe paper smothers the wick???

Hidden Camera Pen

Yesssss! This is the kind of gadget I was hoping would be in the box! It’s tough to see but there is a little pin hole at the top of the pen where the camera is. I’ve been playing with this pen for a while now but am having a little trouble with it. The instructions are translated very poorly into English and all you have to go by on the pen are some tiny red and green LEDs. I’ve got it to work but just not exactly right just yet. The picture quality is about what you would expect from such a small camera and the memory card is not included (I happen to have a micro SD card laying around)

“How to Disappear” Book

So far there has been a book in every box. This one looks really good as far as controlling your online presence or “digital footprint” if you will. I haven’t had a chance to read it but going through the various chapters it seems to provide detailed information on every possible scenario from vanishing from social media to disappearing online completely.

Tac-Warrior Neck Knife

Another thing I have received in every box so far is a knife. I think it’s awesome and I hope the trend continues because I am a sucker for a nice knife. This one you apparently wear around your neck. It locks securely into the sheath with a little tab that you can see at the base of the blade. The sheath also comes with a whistle so you can call out for help if you are attacked. Plus…. it just looks awesome!!

…and that was the Qbox “Surveillance Deep Cover” Theme for August 2016. Personally I think it’s well worth the $55 monthly price tag as the book and the knife are usually pretty pricey all by themselves.
