Loot Crate “Futuristic” Unboxing & Review – July 2016

Loot Crate Review

Loot Crate went “Futuristic” for the month of July with such franchises as: Futurama, Rick & Morty, and Star Trek included in the box. They have really been hit-or-miss lately in the regular Loot Crate boxes lately which some might argue is a result of them hugely expanding their box offerings in the recent past. Still… there are some good names being represented in this box so lets take a look inside to see what we got:

…ok and now for the pics…

Star Trek Online LootPin

I like that they are starting to get licensed Lootpins for their boxes. They’re much better than the previous designs that usually just stated the monthly theme somehow. This particular pin “unlocks” some digital content for Star Trek Online which was apparently pretty good because I had several people request my code if I wasn’t going to use it.

Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Sticker

This is one item that went WAAAAAY off the mark. So it’s a sticker. An officially licensed Star Trek sticker that is a replica of the plaque on the Next-Gen Enterprise D… and even better to show that it is licensed it has a big ugly black bar across the bottom with all of that information on it. I am a huge Star Trek TNG fan and I think this is just crap. At one point in history stickers were deemed filler and they stopped stuffing boxes with it but now they are trying to pass one as a main item.

4001 AD Valiant Comic

I’ll be honest, I know nothing about this comic other than it’s a Loot Crate exclusive. Maybe it’s good… I’ll have to read it but it doesn’t really excite me at all.

Kidrobot Mega Man Mini Series

Now here’s an item I really liked this month. I loved Mega Man back in the day and although I haven’t played it in ages it still has a place in my heart. The mini figure is decently detailed and stands about 3″ so it’s comparable to a Mystery Minis figure.

Rick & Morty Shirt

I’ve said it many times that I don’t watch Rick & Morty so I don’t have much to say about this shirt. I like the design though and my kids are fans of the show so I will be giving it to them. I’m sure I would like the show but I just don’t watch as much TV as I used to so I’ve been falling behind in my TV pop culture.

QMx Futurama Planet Express Ship

Ok so THIS made the entire box right here! This is a replica of the Planet Express ship from Futurama which comes on a display stand. It has a magnet that attaches the ship to the stand as opposed to the old school little post that goes in a hole and is prone to breaking or being too loose. It is nicely detailed and will make a fine addition to my collection. I hope they are able to include more items like this in future boxes!

Loot Crate Review

…and that was the Loot Crate “Futuristic” box for July 2016. Obviously the Futurama ship was by far the best item in the box and arguably one of the best items they’ve included in any box for a looong time. I assume it also ate up most of the cost for the box which is why the other items inside were mostly lack-luster items. Either way, I am happy with this box.
