Loot Crate “Quest” Unboxing & Review – April 2016

loot crate review

Exactly 1 year after Loot Crate’s “Fantasy” box, they revisited the genre with the April 2016 theme of “Quest”. If you were around for last year’s box you would remember that it didn’t go over very well with most people… however, a TON has changed with Loot Crate over the past year and they’ve been consistently knocking out hit after hit box! So… did they hit another “home run” with the April “Quest” box? Well see for yourself…
.

.

…so what did you think? Well check out the photos and my thoughts on the items now that I’ve had some time to reflect on it…

“Quest” Lootpin

It’s a decent enough design and certainly fits the theme. The pin “unlocks” bonus digital content which for this month is an exclusive companion in the Neverwinter game. Unfortunately for me that’s not a game I play… but then that is typical of most bonus digital content we get.

Uncharted 4 “Poster”

Not that I really cared too much about the Uncharted item in this month’s box… the last thing I expected it to be was a freaking paper advertisement. I mean seriously… this barely qualifies as a poster and is more like a freebie flyer that gets passed out at a Gamestop or something. I seriously cant believe Loot Crate reverted back to such a cheap filler item after being so good for all these months.

Loot Crate Exclusive 20 Sided Die Ice Mold

I’ve said this before… no one gives a damn if my ice mold is a Loot Crate exclusive. Like seriously… what is the point?? Not to mention… if I put that much ice into my drink by the time I’m halfway done it will be so completely watered down. Unfortunately this item is a complete dud in my opinion.

Harry Potter Socks

I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan but I do like the series. I don’t mind getting HP items at all but… well I think these are pretty ugly. I guess it’s all of the horcrux from the series but it really doesn’t translate well into socks unless you are a die hard HP fan.

Vikings Floki Drink Mug

I’m on the fence about this item. On one hand… it’s freaking cool as hell to have your very own horn mug! On the other hand… how much use am I actually going to get out of it?? I’ve never watched the Vikings series although I should because I know it’s a show that I would love. Since I don’t watch it I don’t have the urge to display this horn with the rest of my geeky gear leaving it’s sole purpose as a prop for Halloween or the Renaissance Festival.

Labyrinth Shirt

As soon as they announced that there would be a Labyrinth item in the box I was speculating that it would be the shirt. There just isn’t much in the way of other merchandise out there so this seemed like the logical choice. It’s the box art from the movie although I’m not sure why they decided to make it purple and white. I still like it though and it’s the one and only item in this month’s box that I’m really happy about.

…and that was the Loot Crate “Quest” theme for April 2016. …I’m not going to lie… I think it was a terrible box. After a solid 6 months or more of hit boxes this was just a huge dud. I can only hope that this was just an off month and that things will jump right back to awesome next month. Loot Crate runs $20/month and the May 2016 theme is going to be “Power” featuring Marvel, Warcraft, & Dragon Ball Z!
