I like to believe I have some basic cooking skills. In no way am I a master chef but I know my way around the kitchen to some extent. My problem is that I’m not adventurous at all and just stick with what I know… yet when we go out, I’m the exact opposite and always go with something new and “exotic”. But now I’ve found a subscription box that is going to challenge me to create new things in the kitchen! Raw Spice Bar is a monthly spice subscription box meaning you get a selection of worldly spice blends and recipes to try out every month. My first was January’s Egyptian spice box and I picked the easiest recipe in the bunch to do in my video lol…

…did ya like my little cooking show?? It was actually pretty awkward to make I don’t know how people do it lol. So January’s theme was “Egyptian spice” and they sent a little info card detailing a little about the region…

…along with this card came 3 recipes to make use of each packet of spice. The first, and most easiest was the one from my video…

The Hazelnut Dukkah tasted great on the toasted flatbread. If you watched the video you see that it was extremely simple to prepare which I really liked.

The Sumac berries were used in a Sumac carrot salad which sounds easy enough but the carrots took a bit to prepare because they were baked first. It was worth it in the end because the whole thing was delicious!

We did not use the recipe provided for the Egyptian spices because it involved seafood which we don’t usually eat in our house. Instead I used the labels suggestion and prepared them on roasted eggplant but since I was just making it up as I went along it was only so-so. Ah well, the spice was good I just didn’t improvise well enough lol.
