Loot Crate “Invasion” Unboxing & Review – January 2016

Loot Crate Review

Ahhh! The Aliens are invading! Er wait, no, that’s just Loot Crate‘s “Invasion” theme for January 2016. To kick off the new year, Loot Crate started with a Sci Fi theme which is right up my alley. No exclusive Funko Pops this time around but they were including something from the X Files, Alien, and Space Invaders in the box. So have a look at my unboxing video and I’ll meet you down below…

….alright I see that you are back and are asking to see some photos of everything am I right? lol well ok then…

January Invasion LootPin

In 2016 they have decided to replace the old button with a much nicer enamel pin that unlocks exclusive digital content. This month’s pin unlocks a digital comic from ComiXology. You must log into your Loot Crate account to generate the code, then must create a Comixology account in order to redeem it. I didn’t bother with all of that but I will say that I like the pin much better than the old button.

Invasion of the Mini Prints

These are mini recreations of classic sci-fi movie posters. Not sure if everyone got the same 2 but I got “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and “The War of the Worlds”. I love everything from the classic movie era …more specifically the retro sci-fi type movies such as these. I only wish I had more wall space to frame up posters such as these.

X Files LED Flashlight

This is actually a useful item but it’s not exactly an X Files collectible. The fact that it has X Files printed on it actually means nothing as all except to tie it in with the theme. But it is also a super bright LED flashlight which always comes in handy. They even included the batteries for it in the box!

Leeloo Dallas Multi Pass

This is a near perfect replica from The Fifth Element’s famous Multi Pass. I want to remove it from the packaging to be able to examine it closer but I am undecided since the packaging itself is also part of the charm. Plus, now I can walk around saying “LeelooDallasMultiPass” all the time lol.

Space Invaders Vinyl Figure

I do love a good vinyl figure …this one is okay but pretty simple. I do like retro gaming though so it will display well with my other video game items. I believe you could gave got any of the color combinations shown on the side of the box though I haven’t seen any being posted.

Phunny Alien Face Hugger Plush

They included a rubber band in the box to strap this Alien onto your face. If you didn’t watch my video you may want to check it out because I wore this thing on my face nearly the whole time. I don’t normally like plushies but this one had function and made for some entertainment value so it’s a welcome addition to the box.

X Files T Shirt

The shirt design itself isn’t very special in my opinion. The appeal to this shirt is that they shipped the identical shirt in the Loot Pets box so that me and my dog can chill out wearing out matching Loot Crate shirts lol.

…and that was the Loot Crate “Invasion” box for January 2016. Overall I think they did a pretty decent job with the theme… like I said the X Files branded flashlight didn’t exactly add to the geeky factor but it was still a useful item. Be on the lookout for next month’s theme… I’ll be sure to post it as soon as it’s announced… but until then… if you would like to check out Loot Crate for yourself, please use my affiliate link by clicking here.
