Collectible Geek “Star Trek” Unboxing & Review – December 2015

collectible GEEK review

Over the past year, Collectible GEEK has changed their format more times that I can count. After skipping a month in November, they unleashed their latest version of the Collectible Geek box in December with a Star Trek theme. I’m somewhat of a Trekkie so I definitely wanted to get in on this one! Would you like to see what was inside? Alright check out my unboxing:

…okie doke let’s see those photos!…

Star Trek Trading Cards

I got these cards before in several other boxes. They are pop art renditions of the Original Series episodes which is totally my style. If I had the wall space I would frame them up somehow or see if they were available in full size prints. As it stands now though they just sit in a box.

Star Trek Luggage Tag

I literally just received one of these in another box (though it was a different style). The first one I got I kinda thought was nice …like if only I had some luggage to put it on. Getting a second one now is pretty ‘meh’ if you ask me. Plus this is a “red shirt” tag which I think is just asking to have your luggage disappear never to return.

Star Trek Wallet

I’m on the fence about this one. It’s a nice compact mini wallet but since I have a wallet I like I will never use it… so… it’s another item that I wont be using.

Tribble Coin Purse

This thing is interesting to say the least. It’s a big fuzzy coin purse that looks like a tribble when it’s all closed up. I know someone who is freaking out over this and I’m already going to send it to her once I’m done with it …but for me …it’s yet a 3rd item I wont use.

Borg Cube Monitor Mate

I am a big Next Gen fan so I do like the Borg Cube. I have a desktop Enterprise that I will position so that they have some epic table top battles around here. The only thing that makes me scratch my head is that this is supposed to stick to the top of your monitor… and it has a big round base in which to do so… yet I’d be willing to bet that the majority of the population has made it’s way over to a flat screen by now which would make this totally useless in the way. So is this just an outdated product from the age of big fat monitors …or poor design from the company that produced it?

Captain Picard Funko Pop (in a Pop Protector)

Yes!! Captain Picard is my favorite! This box could have benefitted from more Funko Pops and less of the other stuff… in my humble opinion at least.

Sulu’s Starship Pilot School

I love this design… the concept… just everything about this shirt is great in my opinion. I think the only thing that prevents it from being truly epic is that they didn’t work an “oh my” in there somewhere lol.

collectible geek review

…and that was the Collectible GEEK “Star Trek” theme for December 2015. Overall I was satisfied with the box but not wow’d by it. I like that they try to include different items that you wouldn’t necessarily find in a geeky subscription box but that also comes at a risk. There are three things that are of no use to me which of course happens from time to time… but since the latest incarnation of Collectible GEEK runs $60/month shipped it stings a bit more than a box priced at $20 or $30. January’s theme is “Harry Potter” but I did not order up one because I am not a big enough Potter fan to get a whole box dedicated to it. I may pick up February’s though since it has to do with gaming which is on sale right now. If you would like to try Collectible GEEK for yourself, please use my link by clicking here.
