Sometimes I like to break away from the every day geeky subscription box reviews and try something different. This is Angel’s Cup, a single-origin coffee subscription box which sends you a selection of freshly roasted coffee to sample. Plans start at only $8.99 with free shipping and you can select the frequency of your delivery from weekly to monthly. Each coffee is intended to be tasted blindly and is shipped in numbered packs. This is so that you can sip and take notes of the complex specialty flavors using their Angel’s Cup app on your smartphone. If that’s not your style and you just want to try new coffees they include the spoiler cards in the box listing all of the information about the coffee you are about to try. So enough jabber, check out my unboxing and I’ll meet you down below after…
…so after I unboxed my Angel’s Cup, I had to try each flavor… here’s what I received…
Angel’s Cup Coffee #259
For my first sample I wanted to do it the right way, so I brewed it up without checking the cards. The first thing I need to say is that there is definitely something to be said about the smell of fresh roasted coffee! The aroma even before brewing was heavenly! Normally I don’t drink my coffee black but for this taste test I wanted to try it pure before adding cream and sugar. I was shocked by my first sip because I had no idea this was flavored coffee… berry flavored at that. It was a very unique taste that worked well even without my normal additives. I drank most of the cup black and then upon refilling my cup I added in my extras. The cream tends to drown out some of the flavor in my opinion but it was still an amazing cup of coffee!
Angel’s Cup Coffee #260
After going through the spoiler cards to figure out what I drank last, I wound up just matching the rest up to see exactly what it was I was drinking. This one had a Jasmine flavor which I thought was a bit odd tasting. It was ok as a coffee and didn’t spoil my morning cup at all but I don’t think I would have this one again. It just wasn’t as enjoyable as my first.
Angel’s Cup Coffee #261
This one intrigued me because it was said to have Blueberry, Cherry, and Chocolate flavors. Unfortunately I didn’t detect the chocolate flavor but this still was a delicious coffee. Again I tried the first cup black to get the full effect before taking it my usual way. I enjoyed this one just as much as #259
Angel’s Cup Coffee #262
My final coffee was also an interesting one. As the card suggests, the flavor comes out as it cools so I liked my last sip much better than my first. This one was also the furthest off roast as it took me a while to get through the other flavors… I’m not sure how that affected the flavor but it was still a really good cup of coffee.
…and that was my coffee experience with Angel’s Cup. I received the Black Box free of charge in exchange for my honest review but I am such a coffee lover that this would have been a service I would want to try anyways. The Black Box runs $21.99 and you have your choice of ground from whole bean, coarse, and fine depending on your specific coffee needs.
