Loot Anime “Brawl” Unboxing & Review – November 2015

loot anime review

So it seems that Loot Crate is expanding it’s box line up to include more variety. The first of which is their anime box which they dubbed Loot Anime. The theme for the first box is “Brawl” which coincidentally mirrors Loot Crate’s “Combat” theme for the month. I’m not sure if the 2 themes will be similar every month or not but I thought that was too close not to be noticed. The box also runs more than the standard Loot Crate at $30/month so hopefully that means we will get more, better stuff as things get going. So let’s take a look at what the first Loot Anime subscription box had to offer…
.

.

…as you can tell, I’m not all that familiar with several of the anime items represented in the box. It just happens that I don’t watch a lot of mainstream anime and most of my favorites don’t really have a strong product line. So I always feel a bit awkward when I unbox things like this… but anyways check out the pics:

Loot Crate Anime Founders Phone Charm

They promised a little something extra for being a founder of the Loot Anime service. It’s really shiny and has some Japanese symbols on the back but I didn’t look for a translation. I don’t use phone charms so this doesn’t appeal to me as an item but I do like the way it looks.

Attack on Titan Bandages

The tin is very cool looking, however, I find that this is an odd choice for any subscription box. I mean they’re bandages after all… very cool looking bandages but well… big deal. I will totally use them and re-purpose the tin afterwards but it’s not exactly what I expected from this box.

Funko Best of Anime Mystery Minis

I pretty much knew this would be in there. It’s Funko, it’s Anime, & Loot Crate has a working relationship with the company so it was almost a no brainer. I got Soul Evans from Soul Eater which is a show I have never seen, however, he is a nice looking figure with good detail. I will probably check out Soul Eater but not for a while since I’ve got enough shows to binge watch at the moment.

The Seven Deadly Sins Manga with Exclusive Variant Cover

This is another series which I am unfamiliar. I flipped through the book real quick just to see what it was like and it looks good from the artwork so I will definitely give it a read. Like with comics, the variant cover doesn’t mean much to me but I can appreciate that Loot Crate is trying to provide custom items for their new service.

Attack on Titan Glass Mug

Does it really matter if a mug is exclusive? Not to me… but for whatever reason, I think this clear glass mug is pretty cool looking. As opposed to the normal everyday ceramic mugs, the glass gives it a unique look that you dont see too often in a coffee mug… but it’s still only a mug, and you may know my thoughts on mugs from past boxes.

Naruto Shippuden Shirt

Naruto is another show that I haven’t watched… well actually I have seen one or two episodes but they were random. At first I liked the design of this shirt, but after some thought I’ve changed my mind. The slash mark design covers the entire shirt front and back which is a little over the top for my tastes. I will wind up giving it to my kids who will like it just fine.

…and that was the Loot Anime “Brawl” theme for November 2015. Overall, I thought it was a decent starting point for the box even though I didn’t necessarily like all of the items inside. I’m going to keep the subscription for now and see how things progress over the next few months. I think they could really have something if they get the right products into the box and directly compete with the other established anime boxes out there. So far they have no released the theme for next month, but if you would like to try Loot Anime for yourself, please use my affiliate link by clicking here.
