Nerd Block “Hyperspace” Unboxing & Review – September 2015

Nerd Block

Nerd Block

The first box to arrive in September is Nerd Block‘s “Hyperspace” themed geeky subscription box. They generated a LOT of excitement over the fact that there would be Star Wars in the box. 500 lucky subscribers would even “win” a golden ticket item in their box which was an additional Star Wars vehicle of some type. So… are you anxious to see what’s inside? Well check it out!

…so what did you think? Let’s take a closer look at the items in this geeky subscription box…

Jurassic Galaxy Poster

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like this picture… but I’m not sure why I would want to own it. The concept is funny and the artwork itself is well done but it seems more suitable as a meme that I scroll by on my FB wall. I’d even give it a “like”… maybe even a “share”… but it wont be hanging on my wall.

I’m not sure how to price it out but I’ll give it a generous $5

By Your Command Battlestar Galactica Cylon Shirt

I am a HUGE Battlestar Galactica fan so this shirt really speaks to me. Compositionally speaking though… the artist in me wants to balance out the design so that it’s not so lop-sided. I still think it’s cool and will be wearing it for sure.

I value all shirts at $10

Supernatural Mystery Minis Figure

I don’t watch Supernatural so I don’t know much about this guy… other than someone told me his name but I forgot it already. It totally doesn’t go with the theme but I’m not a stickler for that sort of thing either. To me, it’s just a reminder that I need to check out this series because everyone seems to think that it’s awesome.

These sell for about $8

Star Wars BB-8 Plush

Ugh! The Star Wars item just HAD to be a plushie didn’t it. Well it just so happens that Star Wars is one of the few types of plush I will actually like and display so I don’t mind this what-so-ever. I was hoping for something a little bit better but I am still happy with what we got.

These sell for about $15

Springz Nerd Block Exclusive Star Trek Enterprise

There is no way I will be sticking this to my dash but I will gladly have it hang out on my desk. I’m a big Star Trek fan (although I prefer TNG) so this was another win for me. It’s the Enterprise …on a spring …what else can I say?

This was hard to price out but it seems to fetch a $15 price online

..and there you have the Nerd Block “Hyperspace” geeky subscription box for September 2015. An estimated $53 value for $30 shipped. Unfortunately for Nerd Block, they let a LOT of people down with this box. They hyped up the Star Wars thing so much that people expected something more (myself included). The Mystery Mini being off theme also upset quite a few people. I was satisfied with the box although it could have been much better… but that’s the chance you take with mystery boxes.
