Arcade Block Unboxing & Review – August 2015

Arcade block

Yes that’s right, I’ve got myself another Arcade Block! I dont normally get this box just because I dont play enough of the games included to make it an interest of mine. However, with the themes they announced for August, I just couldn’t resist. So let’s take a look inside…

…ok so let’s take a look at those photos…

Fallout Boston Vault Dwellers Pennant

The promise of a Fallout item is what got me to shell out my money on this box and well… I was hoping for something more. It’s ok though because I’m a sucker for all things Fallout related so I’ll take it. I’ll be hanging on the wall so you will probably be able to see it behind me in my video pretty soon.

If I had to guess, this would sell for no more that $5 for sure.

Rock Band Logo Sweat Band

I’m slightly confused by this item because it’s got the Sex Bob-omb packaging and the Rock Band logo on it… either way it’s just another geek box sweat band.

These sell for about $5

Retro Magazine

Although this is a somewhat dull item to get in a geek box, I did really like the last issue of Retro Magazine I read so I am excited to read this one as well. Would I rather get something else? Yes, but I have it now so I may as well make use of it.

Cover price is $7

Scott Pilgrim Video Game Soundtrack

I love the Scott Pilgrim movie but I’ve never played the game. I’m aware that it is very retro but when we got the soundtrack I thought that was maybe because it was set to real music like in the movie. Unfortunately it’s not. The music is very old school video game-like from the old NES days and such… not that it’s a bad thing but it’s not something you will find me playing in the car on my way to work.

I’m not sure how to price this but I will assume it would run about $8

Mortal Kombat X Plushie

I believe you could have received Sub Zero or Scorpion in the box. I am cool with either and for a plushie I guess they’re pretty cool. I think it’s funny though how a stuffed toy can have an ages 17+ rating on it lol.

Flippers are selling these for $20-30 but I think their actual value is more like $10

Counter Strike T-Shirt

This was the other “spoiler” item that really caught my attention. I was a HUGE Counter Strike player back in the day. I even ran my own CS Source server on a home-made Linux box. I had a close-knit community of friends from all over the country and even hosted a CS lan party at my house. I was a little confused by the design when I opened the box though …I could tell it was a NES mash-up of some sorts but was unclear which one. Several people noted that it was a Contra cover but if you look at the original box art …the only similar feature are the red lines in the background. Either way I don’t fret over specifics… I think the design is awesome and I will definitely be wearing this one.

I value all shirts at $10

…and there you have the Arcade Block geeky subscription box for August 2015. An estimated $45 value for $30 shipped. A lot of people thought this was a dull month and I can see where they are coming from… but personally I thought this box was pretty good. It’s rare when I like all of the game-themes included in the box. If you would like to try Arcade Block for yourself, you can visit their website by clicking here.
