After skipping a month Nerd Block is back! The theme for April is “Growing Up 80s” which seems to be a very popular decade for geeky subscription boxes to cover these days… not that I’m complaining. I was a kid of the 80s and I enjoy each companies take on what should go into an 80s box. So enough of the jabbering let’s take a look at the block…
…so there’s the video. Now lets get to the photos:
Nerd Play Cards
Nerd Blocks exclusive trading card series of famous cosplayers. They’ve sent out a few before and I wasn’t really into them so I didn’t even open this pack.
They are selling on ebay for as little as $1.50
88 Miles Per Hour T-Shirt
This Back To The Future shirt is awesome! It features the 3 “versions” of the DeLorean: regular, flying, and 1955 mod. This has now taken the throne as my new favorite shirt.
I value all shirts at $10
Pac-Man Heat Change Mug
This mug is pretty cool… normally it’s a blank Pac-Man level but the characters and dots appear when it gets hot. There have been a lot of mugs lately in these geek boxes and I’m starting to get overloaded …but it’s still a really nice item
Tough Sh*t by Kevin Smith
Yes this book is called “Tough Shit” …if you don’t like it… well I guess that’s well uh tough shit right? I really like getting books in these subscription boxes but the reality is that I probably will never get around to reading any of them. I could probably learn a thing or two from reading this one though.
The paperback version like this sells for $13 on Amazon
Exclusive Titans Ghostbusters Ecto-1
This is a home run for sure! Everyone has figures but almost no one has vehicles which makes this extra special in my book. If someone has connections at Titans, can you tell them to expand into other vehicles and ships! Classic movies, sci fi, etc… a large number of the figures that these companies already make have just as famous vehicles associated with them that just get left out. I believe this is a larger version of the Ecto-1 mini blind box figure that will be released soon.
It’s difficult to price this because it’s exclusive but similar sized Titans sell around $20 and up
…and that was the Nerd Block “Growing Up 80s” box for April 2015. An estimated $55 value for $30 shipped. While there wasn’t a lot of stuff in this month’s box, they made up for it in “big ticket” items and (almost) no filler. I have to say, I haven’t seen a Nerd Block this good in a long time… not that the other ones are bad but they really did a good job with this one. I’m glad I switched back to the Classic because the Horror and Arcade blocks just weren’t for me. !!!ALSO!!! They just announced the Comic Block which is supposed to include 3 comics, a T-shirt, and some extras for about $20 shipped. I’m not big on comics but I cant resist a new box so I ordered one up!
