Your Toy Box Unboxing and Review – March 2015

your toy box

Your Toy Box is an entirely different geeky subscription box service. Instead of the normal every day “Pop and a T-Shirt” service, you actually get a selection of new and vintage toys from about 100 possible themes that you get to choose. It costs $25 per month shipped and you get roughly 7-10 items in the box… that’s about $2.50- $3.50 per item so it really is a good value. Ok so check out what came in my very first Your Toy Box!

Ok so lets do a break down of each item…

Whistle Vol 9 Graphic Novel

One of my themes was Anime/Manga and I got this graphic novel called “Whistle”. I had never heard of this series prior to receiving this book but with a little research I discovered there’s at least 24 (or more) volumes all geared around soccer. I started to read it but it seems more like a book for young adults so I gave it to my kids to check out instead.

These sell for around $5

Star Wars Boxos Papercraft Playset

When I got my first Boxos playset a few months ago I didn’t think I would like them. After finally assembling it (Ninja Turtles) I found out they are actually really cool and well designed. I think this set is awesome and I cant wait to get it put together to put on display!

These sell for about $8 on Amazon.

2001 Mobile Fighter G Gundam “Haow” Figure

I love robots, Mecha, and of course Gundam! This figure originally had several different hands that held various weapons but that’s no big deal as he can only use 2 at a time anyways.

In this condition they sell for about $5

1979 Pewter Lord Of The Rings Boromir

This Limited Edition pewter figure was part of a Lord Of The Rings set from 1979 which featured 12 total characters from the books. He is potentially really valuable to the right collector as they seem to be hard to find and the complete set goes for $250- $300.

It’s difficult to price a single figure but I would say he is easily worth $20

2006 Transformers Spy Changer “Hoist”

While there’s nothing really special about this figure I still love Transformers. This one is very simple to transform which makes it great for younger kids. He once had a gun but it was not included as it is just a loose figure.

These are still pretty common and you can get one for $5 out of the box

1980 Star Wars Ugnaught Figure

This is by far my favorite item in the whole box! He’s not very rare as far as vintage Star Wars figures go but it’s still really awesome to get one. He once had a case which wasn’t included with the figure. The whole box could have been filled with figures like this and I would have been happy! Somewhere I have a few other figures I really need to dig out of storage and show off.

In this condition he’s worth about $5

1996 Power of the Force Sand Trooper

This guy is extremely common but that doesn’t bother me. He came complete with his backpack and weapons and …well he just looks bad ass.

Still in the box they are $4 so loose would be around $1

The Walking Dead Mini Mates

I love these because they are from the comics and not the TV show. I’ve never actually read the comics which makes them cool to me since the characters look much different than their TV counterparts. I have one other pack of these so I think I’m starting a collection lol.

I couldn’t find this exact one but they sell for as little as $6

your toy box

…and that was my very first Your Toy Box based on the themes that I selected. An estimated $55 value for $25 shipped (based on ebay pricing)… no matter how you break it down I only paid $3 for each item INCLUDING shipping so no matter what it’s a great value!
