So in mid-November I had placed an order with this new company Aboxalypse for their classic box, then another a short time later for their Funko Box. The Funko box arrived within a decent amount of time, however, the classic box was not shipped out until January after multiple previous shipping dates had passed. It is unclear what has happened to cause such a delay because they have avoided making a statement. I am not angry about the delay, I got what I paid for eventually but it would have been nice for them to come clean to their customers.
That being said… let’s unbox the Aboxalypse Classic box for December 2014:
For the record, I know it is “A-box-alypse” but I found it so awkward and clunky to pronounce it that way and I kept messing it up on camera so I altered it as I saw fit. Anyways let’s take a closer look at the items:
Breaking Bad Walter White T-shirt
There’s nothing quite like getting a Christmas shirt in January am I right? Despite that little detail, I like the design although I didn’t immediately get the reference. Wearing a Christmas shirt right after the holiday just ended seems …well stupid so I will hold onto it and wear it in the summer or something so it will seem like less of a “leftover”.
I always value shirts at $10
Jack Skellington Pop Vinyl:
Maybe they watched my other unboxing or maybe it’s just coincidence that I hoped I would get Jack and here he is! Either way he is awesome! What more can I say?
I value all Pops at $10
Game Of Thrones Pocket Pop:
Like I said, I am a HUGE Game Of Thrones fan so this is a welcome addition to my collection. I generally like Pop figures that are less-human looking so to speak… otherwise it just looks like a doll in a dress… but I’ll make an exception for the Mother Of Dragons on the count of her being hot (the actress not the Pop).
I’ve found them online for about $6
Nightmare Before Christmas Mystery Mini:
This seemed to be the popular choice for December boxes which is fine by me. I only wish I got a good one. This one is the “Vampire Teddy” and he is decently evil looking although better suited for Halloween.
These run about $7
Random Old Comics:
I’m still not entirely sure if these are reprints or originals because they are dated for the early 90s. I’m not a collector but I will read them …I assume from the comic book store ad that they are probably just old unpopular comics they sell off for cheap but that’s just a guess. I searched on Google and found them for sale as cheap as $0.01 so I’m guessing they’re worthless beyond the initial reading.
I will price them at $1 each for a total of $2 for review purposes.
The card had a hand-written message inside to me like my last box. Still a nice touch …the button and the candy canes …meh!
And that, my friends, is the December 2014 Aboxalypse Classic Box. An estimated $35 for $30 shipped… even though it was extremely late and the fate of Aboxalypse is unknown, I don’t regret the purchase. I like the items in it and as long as the total value at least equals what I have paid I am ok with it. Maybe they will emerge strong from this experience or maybe they will just fade away like so many others… we will just have to wait and see.
*UPDATE* They re-launched their company and it is just as disorganized as it was before. They use DECEPTIVE advertising and have HORRIBLE customer service! To see my review click here.
