Ah yes… another day, another unboxing! Today I bring you the 1Up Box, a geeky subscription box that’s beginning to give Loot Crate a run for it’s money. The December theme was “Mythical” so let’s see what they did with it:
As you can probably tell I was quite impressed with this box! So let’s take a closer look at the items inside:
The Hobbit Snowball Fight Shirt
I don’t know about you but I think this shirt is AWESOME! I think it may actually be more of a LOTR shirt since it has Golem and Gimli in it but ya know… it doesn’t really matter. I like the design and it’s something I will actually wear so that in itself has a ton of value in terms of mystery boxes where you never know what you’re going to get.
I always value T-shirts at $10
Azog Funko Pop Vinyl
Ok so it’s pronounced “ah-zog” and I kept saying “ay-zog” but to each his own. I just saw “The Battle of the Five Armies” and I thought it was damn good. Some people got Legolas but I’m glad I did not simply because he is more of a plain sculpt where as Azog has more character with the 1 hand and scars on his face.
I value all Pops at $10
The 1up Box Ring Of Power
I would have much rather it had been a movie replica ring but I still think the idea is great. It is inscribed “One Ring to Outshine All. One Box to Conquer All. 1Up Box.” The ring itself is decent quality for what it is… and you can pass it off as the “Ring of Power” and no one would know unless they take a closer look. It also reminds me of the Big Bang Theory episode where they were all fighting over the “one ring” and Sheldon kept trying to take it from Leonard while he was sleeping lol.
I’m not quite sure how to value this but I will put $5 on it
The 1Up Filler
I’m not one for buttons but I like the design of this one since I am fond of Dragons. I found the pixy stix to be a clever add-on but with no real additional value. The sticker is kinda funny, I like that it is in the shape of a caution sign but it’s still only a sticker. And finally, the back of the product card had an evil Harry Potter turning wizards into frogs. It’s clever… and a Potter fan may love it but to me it is only enough to make me chuckle before it goes into the stack of other paper items from other boxes.
And that was all that was in the box! For under $20 shipped you got $30(ish) worth of stuff. They may not have the buying power of some of the other boxes like Loot Crate but they certainly make up for it in great box content! They only just recently increased their pricing to become more competitive with LC (it used to be $15 now its about $19) so I’m sure once they get the influx of extra cash flowing in they will be able to do a lot more with it. This is my second month with 1Up and I couldn’t be happier with them! They’ve already announced January’s theme: “Robo Mayhem” so I’m excited to see what they come up with next!

Make sure you check back for more unboxings and at the end of the month I will put all of December’s boxes head-to-head to see which one I liked best!
